11-12 March 2016 / bcc Berlin

“Nervous Systems” exhibition at HKW

If you’re in Berlin on Sunday, you can visit Nervous Systems, an exhibition by Haus der Kulturen der Welt in collaboration with the Tactical Technology Collective, co-curated by Stephanie Hankey, Marek Tuszynski, and Anselm Franke.

Nervous Systems: Quantified Life and the Social Question is an exhibition that asks how the enormous amounts of data captured by billions of sensors from our everyday communications and movements are transforming our behaviour, as well as our understanding of self and society.

Nervous Systems assembles works by over 25 artists, installed in an architectural ‘grid’. And next to “the grid” is The White Room, a live installation by the Tactical Tech – a practical encounter with our everyday devices; with our digital shadows and data aggregates.

The exhibition opens on Thursday, March 10, 7 pm.

On Saturday and Sunday at 3pm you can join one of the curator-led tours through the exhibition. And on Sunday at 4.30pm you can book for the workshop “Hands on your handy” exploring the risks and vulnerabilities of mobile phones here. The session will include hands-on work to install and use apps for secure communications.

If you are at the Logan CIJ Symposium, keep your event bracelet and get a discount for the exhibition!
(6 euro without discount, 4 euro with the bracelet)

Community tickets

Organising a big international event in the heart of Berlin costs a lot of money. We tried to keep the price of the tickets as low as possible as to cover our costs. Yet we know some of our friends and allies may not be able to afford it. We are committed to solve this so no-one will be left behind!

We want to ensure that all journalists, hackers, activists and others who share the objectives of this event are able to join this crucial discussion. We are therefore opening a limited quantity of “friend tickets”.

If you consider that you should join us, but cannot pay the full price of a ticket, please write to specialrequest[at]tcij[dot]org and explain briefly your situation and how much you could pay for a ticket.

The organisation team will do its best to reply shortly with a solution that will ensure that you will be part of this amazing event!
